
Coaches
Graeme Summers, Sue Farrell and Gary McKenzie are the resident coaches at the Moray Skating Club. Graeme has been coaching here since 1999 and Sue moved to the area in 2002. Their pupils have passed 200 tests in the past two years, and enjoyed many wins at national competitions at various levels from beginner to junior championship.
Graeme Summers
Graeme was a Championship medallist several times, and also winner of several National Competitions and British Primary Champion. He has taught pupils to gold test and championship level. He is involved in delivering the NCCP teacher training programme to Moray and Aberdeen, and has coached and performed in the US and Europe.
Qualifications - British Primary Champion, Gold Elements & Free, Senior Competitive Long Test, Senior Competitive Short Test, Inter Gold Figures, Coupe du Printemps Gold Medallist, Advanced Senior Coach of B.I.T.A., N.I.S.A. and Coach UK Aberdeen Council Sports Coach of the Year.
Sue Farrell
Sue was a top level championship medallist, and has won several national competitions. She has 25 years experience in the sport as a coach and a performer in Europe and the U.K. She has introduced the area's off ice training programme, and has taught pupils to Championship level.
Qualifications - Gold Free Level 10, Silver Figures, Inter Silver Dance, Championship Competitor and Medallist in Free and Pair Skating, Gold Medallist at numerous National Competitions, Member of N.I.S.A. and Coach U.K. N.N.E.B. Diploma in Childcare and Development.
Gary McKenzie
Gary was brought in on a Friday night as the amount of members within the Friday night club was growing quickly. Gary has his Level 2 coaching Certificate and also holds both Senior Short and Long Competitive Test which is the highs level attainable in Figure Skating. He has also competed Nationally and International representing the Moray Figure Skating Club winning many medals. He was also the Scottish Junior Champion two years in a row and was ranked 6 in the UK in 2006. Also in 2004 Gary was named Morays Sports Person of the Year with his impressive acheviements he had made prior to this. Gary now does coach weekly on a Saturday morning at the Moray Leisure Centre.
