01/04/2007 - Abbie scores home win in Wales
A YOUNG Moray skater put the opposition in a spin and proved herself to be a Welsh wonder. Abbie from Elgin flew the flag for Moray and took top spot at the Welsh Figure Skating Championships.
In only her second competition at this level, the St Sylvester's Primary School pupil enjoyed an impressive win in the Ladies Level 2 Free.
Abbie (11) was the only member of the Moray Skating Club to attend the Deeside championships, but it was a competition that the young skater had been desperate to take part in, as she is originally from Cardiff.
"Competing against skaters from Sheffield, Hull and Wales, she skated a perfect one-and-a-half minute programme to music from "Annie". Her smile sparkled on the ice".
Abbie is one of a strong team of dedicated figure skaters in Moray who train under Sue Summers Farrell and Graham Summers at Moray Leisure Centre.
