Congratulations to Ruby and Charlotte who competed last month in the Intermediate Novice category at the British Figure Skating Championships and finished 7th and 14th respectively.  Well done ladies!  Here’s a bit about them:

Ruby, aged 14, has qualified for the British Championships for her third consecutive year, having also represented Moray in 2016 and 2017.  The Elgin Academy pupil is part of the GB squad and made her international debut for GB in Latvia last year.  Her mum, Audrey, told us, “Ruby trains hard and is very disciplined. Skating is in her blood. I’m delighted for her – just qualifying for this event is a fantastic achievement!”

Charlotte (14) lives in Lossiemouth and goes to Lossiemouth High School. As well as skating she enjoys singing and spending time with her family, and she has a part-time job. Charlotte’s mum, Julie told us: “18 months ago, Charlotte approached the coaches with her dream of qualifying for the British Championships. She knew this would mean hard work because to meet the criteria for Intermediate Novice, she would need to be under 15 years of age and move up three competitive levels to Level 6. At the first competition of this year Charlotte attained the score for Level 6; now it was a question of achieving the qualifying score for entry to the British. We are delighted to say that at the second attempt at Dundee in August she had the best skate of her career and bettered the qualifying score by two points.”

Moray Figure Skating Club is proud of you both.
