MFSC skater Shelby Simmers, aged 16, confirmed her attendance at the British Figures Skating Championship 2017 (for the fourth consecutive year), with outstanding performances at the latest two National competitions. She got her qualifying score for the short programme at the Magnum National Open, Ayrshire with a new short programme personal best score of 33.00. At the Murrayfield National Open, she needed a technical element score of 27.00 in the free programme to qualify but her performance earned her a score of 29.18, which gave her a total free programme score of 58.64, a new personal best and a total overall new PB of 91.64.
